Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany has said that the team is well aware that they could seal their Premier League title win this term with victory against Manchester United.
“I think everybody in the blue side of Manchester knows it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. But steady, we’ve one more game before United, which will be difficult and then we see.
“I’m sure it won’t be handed to us. It’s that time of the year where you feel every win takes you one step close to your goal,” the Belgian said.
Kompany added that the focus for City is to maintain the current high standards till the end of the season and possibly into the forthcoming one. It has been a very impressive run, with records broken already and likely more to be broken before the season ends.
With the EFL Carabao Cup in the bag, the Premier League will be the second title aside the possibility of winning the Champions League. The team can do a treble, even if it is not ‘the treble’ having lost out to Wigan in the FA Cup already. The only English team on record to have done ‘The Treble’ remains Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United team of 1999.
