CITY WILL MISS BALOTELLI

The Manchester city striker Mario Balotelli could miss the match against Stoke city as he has undergone a laser-eye surgery in Italy, according to Man City Football News.

The 22-year-old is one of the best strikers in the Premier league, and Manchester city will certainly miss him according to the manager Roberto Mancini. Even though Mario Balotelli has only flashes of brilliance during his two seasons with Manchester city, he has always regarded as an important player by the manager. His absence will leave Manchester city with just Edin Dzeko and Carlos Tevez as the two main strikers at the club.

Mario Balotelli has been wearing contact lenses up until now. However, in order to enhance his play the striker has undergone a laser-eye surgery according to the manager Roberto Mancini. This would enable Mario Balotelli to play without contact lenses. Manchester city will have a tough few matches in the next few weeks because they will be facing the likes of Real Madrid in the Champions League. Roberto Mancini has said that Mario Balotelli had no other alternative but to go for the surgery because he developed many problems with the contact lenses during the start of the season.

“He had a few problems with contact lenses some years ago. We waited for the defect to stabilise over the last four years and this was the right time to have the operation. His eyes did not tolerate the contact lenses and had problems at the start of the season. I think in around 10 days he should be ready to play again. Already he asked if he could drive and I suggested he should get a lift until Thursday,” said Roberto Mancini ahead of the match with Stoke city during the weekend. Manchester city’s main priority will be to stop conceding goals.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TARGET

Yaya Toure has said that after winning the Premier League title in the last season, Manchester City is aiming to go one step ahead and win the UEFA Champions League Title this time around. The last season was one of the most successful seasons in the history of Manchester City. The club won the Premier League title for the first time.  As per Toure, that was a fantastic achievement, but, what happened in the last season is history now. The team shouldn’t think too much about the last season and should focus on the new season.

On being asked about the return of Carlos Tevez to the team, Toure said that he is happy with the return of Argentinean striker. He is a fantastic player and he would certainly help City in defending the Premier League title. In the last season, Tevez refused to go on to the field as a substitute in a match against Bayern Munich. Due to this behaviour, he was suspended from the club for an indefinite time. However, earlier this year, Tevez apologized for his behaviour and he has been included in the City’s squad again for this season. As per Toure, Tevez has always been a team man.  He gives his 100% for the team. Everybody in the team has forgotten the incident of the last season and hopefully, Tevez would perform well in the new season.

The manager of Manchester City, Roberto Mancini, has also expressed his delight on Tevez’s return to the squad.  Mancini said that Tevez is looking in fine form and he played very well in the pre season matches. He would be an important player for City in this season. He has done well for City in the past and hopefully, he would be able to deliver for the club in the 2012-13 season again.

Nigel de Jong has stated that he wants to be part of the title success at Manchester City.

“My contract runs for another year, so I’m in a pretty good position. I would like to stay. I’ve been at the club for more than three years and I’m enjoying myself. I have won the two biggest trophies in England – the FA Cup and the league title. I’ve seen the club develop from total chaos with the training facilities into a top club, and that’s very satisfying to see. We have a rotation system. Ideally I would play in every game, but the team comes first and we won the title, so it was all worth it,” said Nigel de Jong.
